About Albemarle Yachts

Albemarle was formed by Scott Harrell Sr. in 1977. This boatbuilder out of Edenton, North Carolina was then incorporated in 1978 and introduced their first model, the Albemarle 24 the following year in 1979. By the late 1980s, Albemarle started to offer sportfishing enthusiasts a series of deep-V fishing boats. Albemarle’s has smaller boats that are known for their jackshaft power options - inboard and outboard installation where engine is located in the center of the boat. The Brunswick Corporation out of Illinois acquired Albemarle in 2005 where it became part of the Hatteras Group. However, Brunswick didn't hold on to Albemarle for too long because four years later in 2009, the brand was sold to an investor named Scott McLaughlin out of North Carolina. Later in In 2015, Albemarle and Carolina Classic united to create some of the most beloved boats for sale and become Albemarle Boats, the Carolina Classic.
